Koman to Fierze ferry

The ferry landing at Koman. The one-lane road through the tunnel takes you to the downriver side of the dam. Valena and I were on our way to Valbona on a rainy weekend the end of September.

The cow was not willing to jump out of the boat and had to have some encouragement.
The next four pictures are of the reservoir. The ferry ride takes about two hours from Koman to Fierze. Fierze is the site of another dam. These two dams provide most of the hydroelectric power generation in the country. Spring 2010 there was a lot of flooding in Albania, which caused some bit of difficulty between Macedonia and Albania. Macedonia was letting water out of Lake Ohrid into the river, which caused the Albanian authorities to have to let water out of the reservoirs so it wouldn't wash away the dams.
