Annaba II

Annaba is for the part surrounded by mountains; this is the lighthouse just west of Annaba.  The top photo is from the road at the lighthouse, and the one just below is from an old hotel in Seraïdi, which is a small city at about 3000 feet.

Other views of the Mediterranean from the hotel.  All in all, a beautiful January day.

Some tiles at the hotel.

A small beach.  The mountains in many places come right down to the water; no beach.  But from time to time there is a little alcove with a sandy or pebbly beach.

in "downtown" Seraïdi.  You can see our escort vehicles up ahead of us.  Taken out the bus windshield.

Yes, all those police cars are for our benefit.  Most people walking by would wave; I don't know how many outsiders come up to the town.

Next two are mostly schoolkids.

Back in Annaba.  The apartment complexes are usually pretty colorful because people hang all sorts of carpets or curtains on the balcony to keep the sun out.  Plenty of satellite dishes.
