Casamarciano

The village of Casamarciano, from whence my grandmother Anna Castaldo came to Chicago around 1914 or 15.

I thought all the pictures were lost when I inadvertently washed the memory card; it wouldn't read, and after a few weeks I gave up.  But yesterday I was trying to figure what was on some of the cards and lo and behold, it read in the camera, so I downloaded them all to the computer, and here they are.

In one of the pictures below you can see Mt. Vesuvius, so you get an idea of how close Casamarciano is to Naples.  You can also see how intrigued I was with Santa Maria, a 12th C edifice my grandmother must have visited.  We were there on Easter Sunday, which is no doubt why the city looks so deserted.
